Sarah Borges is a rock and roll<\/span><\/a> musician based in the Boston, Massachusetts<\/span><\/a>, area, formerly signed to Sugar Hill Records<\/span><\/a>. Her music has been described as „walking that fine line between punk<\/span><\/a> and country<\/span><\/a>„.<\/p>\n

Borges‘ wide variety of influences are often noted. They range from Dolly Parton<\/span><\/a>, Mahalia Jackson<\/span><\/a>, X, Sid Vicious<\/span><\/a>, Merle Haggard<\/span><\/a>, to bubblegum pop<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the strength of a performance at the South by Southwest Festival<\/span><\/a> in 2004, Borges earned a record deal with Houston<\/span><\/a>’s Blue Corn Records. Her records earned praise from Allmusic<\/span><\/a> „an unusual knack for mixing alternative rock with country\u201d and compared Borges to Maria McKee<\/span><\/a> of Lone Justice<\/span><\/a>, admired how her songs „balance some fierce guitar licks with heartfelt twang,\u201d „grittily brilliant“ with songs that are „brilliantly rollicking“.<\/p>\n
